The Business of Bees

Let us take the sting out of keeping bees for you. We will supply Native Irish Bees and manage the hives on your organisation’s behalf. Contact us to find out how this works and how both biodiversity and your staff can benefit from this initiative.

Hand poured 100% Beeswax candle in a ceramic cup
Our ceramic coffee cup is made from the earth’s natural clay. Hand poured by Wicklow Beekeeper, Yvonne Johnston. This 100% beeswax candle was inspired by nature and the grounding harmony it brings. The delicate floral scent comes from the 12 million flowers visited by the bees.

Wicklow Blossom Honey
Crafted by Nature
Our Wicklow blossom honey is made by our endangered Native Irish Honey Bees. We always leave plenty of honey stores for the bees and the rest is harvested by Yvonne and her sons, Zach and Archie Johnston.

"If a Nobel Prize winning poet like WB Yeats was enthralled by bees, then what's not to like about them. For the workshop, Colm and Yvonne brought in two portable, windowed hives to show the boys and girls how bees live, work, build and produce honey for all of us. It was an example of education at the coalface. You could not have witnessed faces that were more mesmerised by all they were hearing in terms of facts and stories than those of the pupils as they sat in raptures and asked the most intelligent questions. This educational class should be made available to all primary school children around the country. It covers so many subjects in one, science, nature, nutrition, storytelling , drama, climate change, the list goes on and it is so tactile and hands on too. The offshoot industries of it are numerous and who knows what child will see it and copy it, as only children can. The great educational phrase of " I hear, I forget. I see, I remember. I do, I understand. " was never more applicable than to this amazing class lesson.  A visit to a garden center, park , flower show or a wood will never be the same again for the pupils. Power is knowledge and today the boys and girls went home empowered. A delight to see and learn from, this whole educational package is an acorn that could become an oak tree. All it needs is some care and attention and plenty of feeding. Many thanks to Yvonne and Colm.”
